GIRLY CHIC

Theme: Girly Chic/Tulle Skirt
Pattern: Simplicity 1427

For the month of May, I chose Simplicity 1427 (Tulle Skirt) for the Pretty Girls Sew Sew-Along challenge. It seems like Tulle Skirts are now Trending and every girl/woman wants to wear one. This is why I thought it'd be the perfect choice for the sew-along.

I decided to go with cobalt blue tulle because it stood out to me and the color is pretty bold. Also, cobalt blue is one of my favorite colors when choosing fabric, next to purple.

Pattern Review (Simplicity 1427)

Description: Misses' tulle skirts in three lengths

Fabric Used: Cobalt Tulle and Satin Lining from Joann Fabric.

Pattern Sizing: I cut out Pattern Size 12.

Were the Instructions easy to follow? The instructions were not bad to follow until I got to the finishing.. The finishing was a bit confusing and it looked somewhat untidy to me, so I finished it my own way.

Likes or Dislikes about the Pattern: Love the style of the skirt I made. And I like that the pattern has three different style lengths. The only I did not like were the instructions. I felt like they made it more complicated than it should have been.

Pattern Alterations or Design Changes made: I cut out about 7 1/2 inches from the bottom so that the skirt will fall right below my knees.

Would you Sew it again? Probably not for myself, but maybe for others.

  5. Hi Ye,
This is a beautiful skirt! However, did you also sew the corset top? If so, what pattern did you use? I want to sew the top and skirt as a gift for my best friend!
You are a very talented seamstress!
