"Baggy" Shift Dress

Pattern Review: Vogue Pattern 8805

Hi Everyone! Happy Memorial Day to you all... and for all who have served, Thank You for your Service! This weekend, bae and I decided to do a road trip to Harrisonburg, VA.. Of course I saw it as an opportunity to sew and take pictures at a unique location, while exploring the area. We visited the Natural Chimneys Regional Park, The Spa at Massanutten Resort, Fareway's Restaurant, and James Madison University.. It was a nice and adventurous getaway. Shout out to the future hubby for planning it.

Our Ride.. ;)

So, after looking through my stash of patterns, I decided to go with something stylish yet comfortable. I went with Vogue Pattern 8805. I also decided to use the rest of the fabric from the 'Prêt-À-Créer' garment I made a couple of months ago. #NoFabricGoesToWaste ;)

Below is the Pattern Review, please let me know if you have any questions regarding the pattern. Enjoy the rest of your day.. xo

Pattern Review: V8805

Pattern Description: Pullover dress (semi-fitted through bust) has back neck slit, hook/eye closing and narrow hem. Purchased bias tape finishes neckline. A, B, C, D CUP SIZES

Pattern Sizing: I cut out the Pattern Size 14

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the website once you were done sewing with it? Yes, with prints. ;)

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the instructions were VERY EASY to follow.

What did you particularly like about the pattern? I really like the simplicity of the pattern and looseness of the dress. I also love the top stitching detail and length of the dress.

Fabric Used: Wax Print by Vlisco (Prêt-À-Créer Gift Set)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:  I didn't make any major pattern alterations or changes. But to get the perfect fit (looseness) I wanted, I measured the width of a dress a made earlier this year. I loved how it fit and decided to use the same measurement for this dress. Also, instead of the Hook & Eye, I extended the Bias Tape to make a "Tie" in the back.

Would you sew it again? Yes, I would sew it again. Maybe in a solid color or color block next time.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I'd recommend to others.. Great for Beginners

  1. I really love the pattern and how you mixed the fabrics. The loose fit on you is just too fab! I don't have the pattern but I will get it during the next pattern sales. Thanks for the inspiration as always!
