Pattern Review: Butterick Pattern 5916

"YOU Alone are Enough. YOU have Nothing to Prove to Anybody"

Hi Everyone! I just realized that I missed a pattern review... :/ Sorry guys.. Okay, so this was a frackenpattern, which means I used more that one different patterns. Fun stuff! For this dress, I used Butterick pattern 5916 for the bodice and Butterick pattern 5982 for the skirt. I was going to make a belt but I ran out of time. I wore the dress to church about 21 weeks ago (according to when I posted the picture on instagram). The dress is cute but not one of my favorite.

Pattern Review: Butterick 5916

Pattern Description: Semi-fitted dress has lined yoke fronts and mock wrap bodice, and back zipper. A: self-lined sleeves. A and B: single-layer peplum (wrong side shows) with narrow hem, and back hemline pleat.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the website once you were done sewing with it? Yes, just the bodice.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, it was pretty easy..

What did you particularly like about the pattern? The favorite part of the pattern is the front yoke (on the shoulder) and also the cap sleeve. The yoke allows you to explore your creativity. I chose to use a solid orange fabric. I can see someone using leather for the yoke or even adding spikes. And if you add a peplum, you can turn the bodice into a simple peplum top.

Fabric Used: Ankara Fabric / Cotton from my stash

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:  I used the skirt from Butterick 5982 instead of the pencil skirt pattern that came with Butterick 5916

Would you sew it again? There's a possibility.. Next time, I'll sew the whole pattern without frankenpatterning it.

As always, thanks for reading..

If you make the pattern, don't forget to share. I'd like to see how you made yours.

xo, YS...
