SLIDER

DIY Trumpet Dress

I made this dress for a wedding I attended this past weekend. I love the color of the fabric and the way the dress moves. It's such an elegant dress. I absolutely love the style.

I made View F from the pattern. This view has a flounce.

Pattern Review (V8948)

Description: Fitted, lined dress has neckline variations, princess seams, and invisible back zipper.

Fabric Used: Akara / Wax Print.. The fabric was chosen as the Aso Ebi for the wedding. The lining and netting interfacing were purchased from Joann Fabric Store.

Pattern Sizing: While cutting out the pattern, I cut out a pattern size 6 at the shoulders and armholes. But cut out a size 10 for the waist and hips. I went bigger at the waist and hips because I wanted the dress to have more wearing ease for a looser fitting dress.

Were the Instructions easy to follow? Yes, they were until I got to the instructions on how to attach the flounce. I looked easy until I started attaching the flounce to the dress. I was literally praying and sewing, hoping it comes out at least okay so that I don't have to redo it. Lol I feeling like Vogue should be more detailed when explaining how to attach these type of flounce.

Likes or Dislikes about the Pattern: Love the style and I learned about netting interfacing. Cool stuff. The only thing I didn't like was how difficult it was to attach the flounce correctly. Lol but I appreciate the challenge. :)

Pattern Alterations or Design Changes made: No Alterations or Changes. The pattern was perfect.

Would you Sew it again? Someone at the wedding asked me to make them this exact dress, I might consider making it for her. But I'm not ready to face that flounce. :D
