Yetunde's 2015 Year in Review

Top 10 memorable moments in 2015

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was great, spent it with family. One of the best part of Christmas for me was watching my niece and nephew open their gifts.. I think they were excited about opening the gifts more than they were about the actual gifts. Lol

Anyway, I was at home last week reflecting on 2015 and how amazing this year has been. There were a lot of new (firsts) and amazing things that happened this year. And the best part is that most of these things were not even planned and happened unexpectedly. All I can do is Thank God for opening doors and allowing me to experience 2015 like I did.

So here are my 10 memorable moments in 2015 to reflect on..

1.  Natural Hair Photoshoot: In January of this year, I had the opportunity to shoot with a Baltimore photographer named Kel B. The photoshoot was for a Natural Hair Portrait Project he was working on.

2.  Store Opening - YS Collection: In February, I opened my online store, www.YetundeSarumi.com. Yay!! Finally, I know. Since then, it has grown tremendously. I started with only 3 items and currently carry 12 items.... and working on more items for spring. ;)

3.  Epic Engagement Photoshoot: Planned by my talented brother, Tunji Sarumi Studio, Ola and I's engagement shoot was breathtaking. Definitely something we've never seen or experienced before. I had my dress made by a local designer, Zoe Arku.

4.  Our Wedding Weekend: We literally had a 3 day wedding weekend, on Labor day weekend. I'm still amazed at how we survived 3 days of celebration and didn't crash in-between. Our traditional wedding was beautiful, it made me appreciate my culture even more. Our church wedding was also breathtaking and elegant. It was definitely a wedding to remember. I'll blog about the weddings on our 1 year anniversary. :D

5.  Vogue Patterns Magazine: It was such an honor to be chosen as VPM's Star Blogger for October and be featured in the Magazine. I absolutely love what I do and it feels great to share it with others.

6.  British Vogue Magazine: My business, YS Collection, was also featured in British Vogue Magazine this year. It was not only featured in the October Issue, but the November and December Issues as well. I'm definitely grateful for that.

7.  Honeymoon - Greece: Ola and I went to Greece (Athens & Santorini) for the first time. While we were trying to figure out where to go on our honeymoon, I told him that I don't really care to go to somewhere that has a beach (like the Caribbean). I'd rather go somewhere I can explore.. somewhere with history. He chose Greece.. :)

8.  Honeymoon - Paris: I've been dreaming about going to the Eiffel Tower since I was 8 years old. Ola made my dream a reality by making Paris part of our Honeymoon trip.

9.  Zuvaa Pop-Up Shop: Thanks to Zuvaa, my business had the opportunity to be part of it's first pop-up shop. It was a great experience. I loved meeting and interacting with my customers.

10.  RAW DC Holiday RAWk Fashion Show: Last but not the least memorable moment in 2015.... I had the opportunity to do a fashion show featuring some of the samples I've been working on for Spring 2016. It was so great to have the support of so many talented artists (Stylist, Photog, MUA, & Models).. I couldn't have done it without them.

Thank you all for sticking with me in 2015. I'm excited to see what 2016 will bring.. I'm projecting more international travels, lots of sewing, and connecting more with you all. :)

Have a Happy New Year guys.. xo
