Pattern Review: Vogue 9078

Hello Everyone! Hope you had an amazing week/weekend.. Mine was pretty busy, but fantastic. We finally have a wedding date, so the wedding planning is officially ON! Whoop!! So now if you don't blog often, you know why. But anyway, I'm super excited for us and this next chapter in our lives. Okay so, a couple of weeks ago, my friend, designer Timmy Ajulo invited me and my fiancé to the 1st Annual Africa Gives Back International Gala (Timmy was one the designers to showcase their work). And of course I saw it as an opportunity to sew something, since they suggested that the guests should wear Ankara. I decided to search for a sewing pattern that wouldn't require too much work to sew. I opted for Vogue Pattern 9076, one of new Vogue's sewing patterns. Details about the dress and the changes I made below.

Pattern Review: Vogue 9078

Pattern Description: Lined Ruffled dress has princess seams, close-fitting bodice, raised waist and back zipper.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the website once you were done sewing with it? Not exactly, I added a little bit of length to mine.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the instructions were pretty straight forward.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the style, especially the drop waist. I didn't have any difficulties at all with this pattern.

Fabric Used: Ankara / Wax Print / African Print

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I chose to sew view C, but since I wanted a gown, I had to add about 13 inches to the hem.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?  Yes, I'll sew it again. Maybe I'll do the shorter version instead next time.

I borrowed my mom's fur coat.. lol

xo, Ye..

  3. What can I say but I just love your dress. It's like nothing I would ever think to make or wear, and yet it's utterly awesome. I love the crazy fabric, I love how you lengthened the design (makes the proportions SO much better), love how the stripes don't match up in the front so you can see the front panel. You're rocking it!
