DIY Pleated Dress
A couple of months ago, I was gift a purple Ankara fabric. The fabric was so beautiful that I knew that I have to make something very nice and classy with it. I kept it in my stash until I came across the M6833 pattern.
I made the dress (M6833; view C) for a wedding I attended this weekend. The dress is so fun and the fit is perfect.
Pattern Review (M6833)
Description: Lined dresses have close-fitting bodice and back zipper.
Fabric Used: Ankara / Wax Print
Pattern Sizing: I cut out a Size 6
Were the Instructions easy to follow? Yes, but the most challenging part was attaching the lining to the Bodice Front to make the V-neck. I actually thought that adding the tulle to the lining would be challenging, but it was actually easy to attach.
Likes or Dislikes about the Pattern: I love the pattern. The dress is great looking and it reminds me of a dress that First Lady Michelle Obama would wear. ;) (Side Note: I Love Mrs. O's Style. And I would love to make a dress for her someday.) I have no dislikes about the pattern.
Pattern Alterations or Design Changes made: No pattern alterations or changes. But while cutting the fabric, I cut it out based on the fabric print direction.. I didn't follow the grainline directions shown on the pattern. I wanted the darker part of the fabric to be at the shoulder and bottom of the dress.
Would you Sew it again? Yes!!! Most Definitely.. :)
