Travel: N I G E R I A 2014

6.27.2014

A little bit over 2 weeks ago, I lost my dad..... Still not ready to talk about it yet, but it is well. The purpose of this blog post is to share a few "sewing related" pictures with you that I took while I was in Nigeria for my dad's funeral. We had to find a tailor/seamstress that can sew our clothes, for the funeral, in ONE DAY. My sisters and I went to Gbagi Market in search of a seamstress and found the amazing lady in the picture above. She literally made 5 outfits (3 adult women and 2 girls) in just a few hours. She did use her assistants, but I was still amazed of how quickly she finished.

What I Wore: Philly Fabric Tour

So the night before the Fabric Tour I couldn't sleep.. I think it's because I was so excited about going to the Fabric Tour. I kept thinking about things I would like to sew in the future and started looking at inspirations. Then the idea to make something to wear on the trip came to my head, so I started thinking about fast and easy things to make because I didn't want to stay up all night sewing. I decided to make another version of the Cross Back Ankara Tank Top I made for memorial day. But instead of a cross-back, I made a v-back.

Travel: Philly Fabric Tour

6.08.2014

Last week, I had a chance to go on a Fabric Tour in Philadelphia, with The Sassy Sewer.. It was an amazing experience.. I spent a lot of money on Fabric, but not as much as I thought I would have spent. So I'm good. Lol I went with my sewing instructor (Blondell), her sewing friends, and other Sassy Sewer students. It was great to be on the trip with ladies that have an extensive knowledge in sewing.. Every time I'm around them, I just watch, pay attention, and soak in all the knowledge they're sharing. I learned a lot from them and I love the fact that I can share ideas with them and they give me feedback.
