Pullover Dress: Pretty Girls Sew August Sew-Along Submission

9.06.2013

This is my submission for the Pretty Girls Sew August Sew-Along. This is one of those patterns that I wasn't too sure of at first, but when PGS chose it for the Sew-Along, I decided to give it a try. The moment I fell in love with the dress was after I attached the neck binding.. It made the dress look amazing.

I tried on the dress so that my mom can see it and as soon as she saw it, she fell in love with it also. Since I was going to make her a maxi-dress anyway, I decided to give her this dress instead since she loved it so much.. and looks great wearing it. The fabric choice definitely made this dress. It flows just right.

Also, photo credit to my Mom.. :)

Pattern Review (M6743)

Description:
Very loose-fitting, pullover dresses have bias neck binding, gathers, seam detail, and narrow hem.

Fabric Used: Poly Chiffon from The Sassy Sewer and lined with Cotton Lawn from Fabric.com (Sold Out)

Pattern Sizing: I cut out a size Small... went a size down.

Were the Instructions easy to follow? Yes, but I didn't follow it all the way through because I made some changes (added lining).

Likes or Dislikes about the Pattern: The pattern is great.. it requires a lot of fabric but once the garment is completed, it makes a pretty fun dress. Depending on your fabric choice, you can dress it up or down.

Pattern Alterations or Design Changes made: The fabric I used (Poly Chiffon) is see-through, so I decided to line it. The pattern instructions doesn't require you to line it. I made View A, minus the self belt, and used the View D's binding because it extends into a tie.

Would you Sew it again? Yes!!! Most Definitely..

You Can Make It Sewing Series: My Journey + Graduation

9.03.2013

THANK YOU!!!!... to The Sassy Sewer, My Family, and Friends for all of your Encouragement and Support through out my journey of "Learning to Sew."
Side Note: The Journey is NOT over yet.. the learning continues.
From Left: Colette, Me, Blondell (Instructor), & Lori

Hey Loves.. I finally completed the "You Can Make It" Sewing Series via The Sassy Sewer. Yay Me!! It took me a little bit over a year, but I am extremely (over-exaggerating) confident that I can make anything... from a pencil skirt to a blazer, I can make it.. even a pair of jeans. :) I've learned so much over the past few months so I thought I should write a blog post highlighting each level in the sewing series and what I've learned. Keep in mind that My first day in sewing class, I didn't know what to do with a sewing machine, but now, you can barely pull me away from it. I hope this inspires you to learn to sew or at least think about it. Sewing is very rewarding.
